The prototype is fundamental
for the creation of the rubber mould which will
grant the multiple replications of the desired object.
In order to create the mold, we use materials that enable
highly accurate replication: a special silicone rubber
which will be carefully chosen to obtain accurate patterns.
To this model a small metal stick is accordingly added,
stick which will become a feeding channel in
the next processing stages. All this is packed in the
center of rubber sheets and squeezed in the claps of
the vulcanizer, a machine equipped with warm sheets
capable to melt the rubber so that it completely 'incorporates'
the prototype.
Once it is cooled, the matrix is opened and the model
is taken out. This delicate operation is performed with
scalpels. The matrix is cut in zig zag in order to facilitate
the perfect closing of the two rubber parts when the
wax is injected to obtain the model. |
